Viridian is developing a unique, patent-pending processing technology that harnesses bacteria that breathe ore to extract metals.  Having evolved in environments largely depleted of oxygen, these bacteria have developed respiratory processes that rely on metal oxides instead.  Through this respiration, the bacteria dissolve metals.  Starting with naturally occurring bacteria, Viridian has developed techniques to optimize their performance for specific ores and materials provided by customers.  By harnessing bacterial respiration, we can solve the most pressing economic and environmental problems with conventional refining:
